Prominent Parishioner to receive The Queen's
Diamond Jubilee Medal 3 Feb 12
Marlene Brant Castellano will receive The Queen's Diamond Jubilee Medal
at an investiture ceremony on Monday 6 February at Queen's Park.
This award is a recognition of Marlene's contribution to peace and
reconciliation among indigenous people and settlers over the last
half-century. Marlene adds this honour, given on the sixtieth
anniversary of the Accession of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II to the
throne, to her membership in the Order of Canada. Congratulations,

Visit of the Most Reverend Douglas Hambidge,
retired Metropolitan of British Columbia and the Yukon 6

On Sunday 12 February, Archbishop Hambidge will visit the parish to
speak at the Christian Education session and to preach at the 10:30
Sunday Celebration. For those who completed the Stewardship Study
in the fall, you will recognise Archbishop Hambidge as the author of the
book The S Word. We will host a luncheon after church so
everyone may have a time for fellowship and conversation with our guest.

Service of Thanksgiving on the 60th
Anniversary of the Accession of HM The Queen 3 Jan 12
A liturgy to commemorate the diamond jubilee of the accession of The
Queen will be held on Sunday 5 February at 4:00 p.m. in the Chapel
Royal. The order of service (click
here to read it) will follow the authorised form as
found in the current version of the 1662 Book of Common Prayer
as used in HM Chapels Royal and which was promulgated by Her Majesty's
Command according to this warrant reproduced in the BCP:

Warrant dated the Twelfth day of June, One thousand nine hundred
and fifty-three, certain Forms of Prayer and Service were made
for the Sixth day of February and commanded to be printed and
published and annexed to the Book of Common Prayer and Liturgy
of the Church of England to be used yearly in all Churches and
Chapels within the Provinces of Canterbury and York:
NOW Our Will and Pleasure is that Our said Royal
Warrant be revoked, and that the use of the said Forms of Prayer
and Service be discontinued; and that the Forms of Prayer and
Service hereunto annexed be forthwith printed and published and
annexed to the Book of Common Prayer and Liturgy of the Church

Appointment of a new Rector for our Sister
Parish

The Bishop of Albany has appointed the Rev'd Neal Longe to the Parish of
St Ann, Amsterdam. Fr Neal was ordained to the priesthood on 30
June 2010 and served at Christ Church, Schenectady, and St Michael's
Church, Colonie, before being called to St Ann's. He is married to
Lisa and they have two children, Maria, age 4, and Noah, age 2. Fr
Neal completed a Diploma in Anglican Studies at Trinity School for
Ministry and read a Master of Arts degree at St Mary's Seminary and
University. We look forward to meeting the Longe family and hope
that they will become good friends of this parish.
Trial Combined Worship and Study

In our ongoing efforts to prayerfully discern who and where God is
calling us to be, we are embarking on a trial where both congregations
will worship and study together. The parish leadership believes
that fruitful Christian communities not only pray together but learn
together. The schedule for the trial can be found on the

Canonisation of Kateri Tekawitha, First
Indigenous Saint in North America 19 Dec

The Vatican announced today that the Blessed Kateri would be elevated to
sainthood. Kateri is a controversial figure: she is an
exemplar of Christian virtue, all the more so because she was a Mohawk.
But to many traditional Onkwehonwe she is an example of the assimilation
that the missionaries of the seventeenth century practiced. For
those who revere her, however, this is a significant event and the
result of many years of advocacy by her postulancy committee. For
